Katja Riemann

Katja Riemann was born on the 1st of November 1963 in Kirchweyhe as Katja Hannchen Leni Riemann and is the daughter of a teacher couple. Immediately after graduating from high school in 1983, she studied a semester of dance education in Hamburg before moving on to Hannover University of Music and Drama, where she studied for two years and then spent another year at the “Otto Falckenberg School” in Munich.
From 1987 to 1989 she belonged to the ensemble of the “Munich Kammerspiele”, between 1990 and 1992 she had a commitment at the Schiller Theater in Berlin. From November 2007 to February 2008, she played the lead role in the Tolstoy piece "Anna Karenina", with which she went on tour through Germany and Switzerland.
Anyone who has not seen her on stage, you know her definitely from TV movies such as: "Der bewegte Mann", “Stadtgespräch”, "Die Apothekerin", "Bandits", "Türkisch für Anfänger" or "Fack ju Göhte!"
The films that come to mind first, if you think of Katja Riemann, are mostly comedies and have lost between the whole Hollywood blockbusters in the home DVD shelf actually a German movie, guaranteed Katja Riemann plays with ...
Her filmography beginning in 1985 is complete from 1988. Since then, she has shot at least one or even up to five films every year. She has already won prizes several times for her versatile portrayals. Among others the Golden Camera, the Bambi and the German Film Award.
But you can also admire her as a singer. She has released several music albums and in the movie "Bandits" she was very impressed by the drums of the "prison band".
In addition to her art, Katja Riemann is also committed to democracy and human rights, as well as to an open society. It also supports the fight against child poverty, child trafficking and the circumcision of young girls in Africa.
She is a supporter of UNICEF, Amnesty International and ONE. She was even called to the "Innovation Advisory Council" of the "Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development".
In 2010 she received the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon for her social commitment.
